DÖF - DÖF

Tja, many think I should be ashamed of my interest in Neue Deutsche Welle, instead of promoting it to many who where lucky (according to the many) who never came across it yet. I guess I am not, partly because I'm unfortuantly not understanding all they moan about in those songs, nor was I old enough, and living in the wrong country when it reached his tops, and probably attracted a whole lot of people who are disliked by those many, simply because it was a whole lot. I have to admit I have such tendency myself usually. Millions are usually wrong. and I still don't like the only song that survived this period, Eisbär, by Grauzone, though the videoclip is as cool as most NDW clips.
When Die Deutsche Neue Welle was 'big' for a few years already, in 1983, two Viennisch cabaret artists met Annette Humpe, singer of the german NDW band Ideal, and started a whole new project: DÖF
DÖF stands for
Deutsch-Österreichisches Feingefühl (German-Austrian sensitivity) and is clearly inspired on that other band DAF (Deutsch- Amerikanische Freundschaft or German American Friendship) and due the cabaret backgrounds they managed to give an even more ridiculous touch to te phenomenon. On this album a few cabaresque conversations in petshop appear, and the 'sensual' lips from Jasser Arafat get celebrated.
DÖF had two hits, in Austria, Belgium, holland and germany with the songs CODO (standing for Cosmic Dolm, or cosmic idiot) and Taxi, not to get confused with that other NDW song Taxi from another of my favourites, Jawoll. Both songs are on this album and apperantly those where the only onces the former owner used to play. I could not get rid of the ticks and scratches, but it remains listenable.
